About Coal City, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Coal City is a small town in Northeastern Illinois with a population between five and six thousand. Named for the coal mines in the area, the village falls both in Will and Grundy Counties.  This is a small town that anyone would love to live in. It is not far from Chicago and Aurora and what it lacks in convenience it makes up for in charm and small town atmosphere. The seasonal weather makes this small town even more idyllic.  Watch snow fall on the train tracks in the winter and go for a swim in the summer.

While most of the towns around Coal City are small and suburban, or even rural, this part of the world is not nearly removed from pop culture as one might imagine. This area has had more than 15 minutes of fame.  Coal City is referenced in “The Blue Brothers” and was also the partial filming location of “Planes, Trains and Automobiles.”  In nearby Aurora, go eat at the White Castle where “Wayne’s World” was filmed or head over to Joliet to visit Rialto Square Theatre where scenes from “Stir of Echoes” were filmed.  Take a “movie tour” of the area on a cold, windy Illinois winter day.  You’ll be sure to see something cool enough to tell your friends about!

What about the spring and summer?  Warm weather activities in this area are not hard to find. In nearby, you can visit historical sites like Plainfield House or The Standard Oil Gasoline Station but if you visit in the warm spring or summer months then you will certainly want to stroll the downtown area. It is full of shops, restaurants and other points of interest. If a historic downtown experience is on your mind, however, Plainfield is certainly not your only option. In Morris, you will find Morris Commercial Historic District or check out historical sites in downtown Lockport.
