About Braidwood, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Braidwood, Illinois is a small town in Northeastern Illinois. With a population around 5,000, this town is the quintessential quaint Midwestern town. However, its proximity to larger cities like Aurora and Chicago make it a convenient place to live. The weather in this part of the country is seasonal meaning that it is cold in the winter and warm in the summer. You can throw snowballs with the kids in the front yard on Christmas and go fishing on one of the nearby rivers on Memorial Day.  There is something for every person and every season in this part of the world. That is a part of its allure.

You might be surprised to find out just how much this quiet section of Illinois has been featured in popular film in in the 30 – 40 years.  The motel scene in “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” was filmed in Braidwood at what is now the Sun Motel.  A bus station in Wilmington was also used for some scenes in the Steve Martin film.  Scenes were also shot in nearby Coal City. Coal City is also referenced in “The Blue Brothers” and you can visit Aurora and go eat at the White Castle where “Wayne’s World” was filmed.  In addition, should you find yourself in Joliet, be sure to visit the Rialto Square Theatre where scenes from “Stir of Echoes” were filmed.  You could spend an entire cold, winter’s day touring around these small town “attractions.”

Looking for warm weather activities in the spring or summer?  This area has tons of events, activities and facilities where you can soak up some vitamin D and have some fun in the sun. Nearby Plainfield is the oldest community Will County and should you find yourself on a warm spring or summer day then you should spend a day strolling the historic downtown area which is full of shops, restaurants and more.  The Morris Commercial Historic District in Morris also provides the same small town atmosphere and historical feel and Plainfield and can also visit the historical sites in downtown Lockport.
